On Pergamon, Johannes Schmoelling was introduced on a TD album for the first time. The new line-up’s first concert at Palast der Republik in East-Berlin was also the premier of a major Western band performing in the GDR.
The album was originally simply released as Tangerine Dream (1980) through the East German label Amiga.
“It’s a breathtaking denouement to a charged, resonant live recording which, in the dark, pre-unification days of the early 80s, offered hope on both sides of the notorious Berlin Wall.”
